Course Content: - Risks associated with low voltage rescue situations
- General principles of LVR including isolation of supply, safety of victim and rescuer
- Treatment after the rescue
- Removal of victim from the source of injury
- Safe use of rescue kit and maintainence
- Safe use of fire blanket
- Obligations of employer to provide training
- Basic anatomy and physiology relating to performing CPR
- Procedures for performing CPR
- ARC Guidelines
- How to access ambulance/medical assistance and/or emergency response support
- Understanding of the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Privacy and confidentiality requirements
- Chain of survival
- Need to be culturally aware, sensitive and respectful
- Duty of care requirements
- Relevant workplace hazards
- Infection control principles and procedures, including use of standard precautions
- Awareness of stress management techniques and available support
- Demonstration of Public Access Defibrillation using training defibrillator
- Demonstrate correct procedures for performing CPR using manikins
